What is Eventsure?
Eventsure is an assurance platform for Event organisers and suppliers to certify they have had their H&S management systems scrutinised to a standard of SSIP.
I supply food carts, small rides and low risk services, is this really for me?
If your client only uses Eventsure as their approval platform, this has to be for you too. However, even if you are a sole trader with only a small food stall, by displaying Eventsure approved logos demonstrates to customers you have had your certificates, insurances and risk assessments scrutinised as a minimum.
We are an end customer and venue, why would we insist on our supply chain being Eventsure registered?
Firstly, there is no cost for end users such as venues or local authorities. By insisting all the supply chain is Eventsure registered you are ensuring you are further discharging your legal duties under CDM by carrying out the in depth checks of suppliers such as insurances, risk assessments, training and etc.
Why would I not use another SSIP accreditation such as Constructionline, SMAS or CHAS?
All of our assessors are from the events industry. We recognise that a TDS design for a stage will differ to a temporary works design for site hoarding. We recognise that a business setting up marquess still has to adopt CDM practices but does not need to need to consider measures traditional construction companies would
Do you visit us for evidence?
No. Everything is evidence based via desktop exercises. For example, a rigging company employs 30 members of staff made up of freelancers and employed teams. In accordance with the management of health and safety at work regulations 1999 you are required to have a competent person to provide competent H&S advice. We would ask for evidence on who this is and evidence to demonstrate they have done this.
How do I send my evidence?
We use a platform for you to upload documents to. When this has been vetted to the required standard, it will be approved and the certificate issued.
Will this save me time working with clients when I need to submit my H&S info?
It can do! If you are working for a company who insist on Eventsure approval, they will be issued a database of approved companies. All they should ask for before arrival to site will be site specific Risk Assessments. However, they may still wish to see other documents but some won’t and all you may need to send is your Eventsure Certificate.
Will I have to only upload my evidence once per year?
Yes and no! If you take Eventure membership out on the same day your policies are developed and reviewed, along with insurance, then yes. However, this is unlikely and therefore if things expire such as insurance, we will prompt for a new version.
How quick can I be Eventsure approved?
It will be approved within 7 days of submission for each element submitted. To be fast tracked in 24 hours, this will be subject to additional cost and will depend on which package is being subscribed to
Who is behind Eventsure and why is this such a thing?
David Cumberland, CMIOSH. Having worked in traditional construction for many years, he worked with clients including tier 1 construction companies such as Balfour Beatty and Kier to achieve Safety Systems In Procurement (SSIP) accreditations. Platforms such as Constructionline, SMAS, CHAS, Safe Contractor and Trustmark have been around for many years and Constructionline was actually introduced some time ago by the government. It was brought in to improve the safety standards of contractors well before they got on site at procurement stage. By holding such accreditation it demonstrates they are legally compliant and can supply evidence to demonstrate the legal duties under CDM. It is the norm for contractors in construction to demonstrate accreditations held now and you only need to glance at vans on the road and you’ll easily see stickers displaying these accreditations. The Event sector is a little behind the traditional construction sector but the same legislation applies. David has worked on many events and has noticed more and more people arriving to site untrained and lacking documentation- Eventsure can help towards improving safety in the world of events!
